England’s Savannah Marshall became the new Ring magazine super middleweight champion with a lopsided win over inaugural Ring champ Franchon Crews-Dezurn, in Manchester Arena, Manchester.

Fighting through the rough tactics of her opponent, Marshall (13-1, 10 knockouts) became only the second woman in history to claim a title from a previous incumbent champion when she decisioned Crews-Dezurn (8-2, 2 KOs) with a ten-round majority decision that should have been unanimous in her favor. The scores were 95-95, 99-92 and 97-93 for Marshall, who thus becomes only the second British female fighter to lift a Ring belt.

All other Ring current Ring champions are inaugural queens with the sole exception of Alycia Baumgardner.

In the co-main event, Ring junior middleweight champion Natasha Jonas improved to 14-2-1 (9 knockouts) when she stopped former two-time title challenger Kandi Wyatt (11-5, 3 KOs) to lift the vacant IBF welterweight crown. Jonas dominated the action until referee Marcus McDonnell decided to call a halt to the action in the eighth round.
