Winston Guerrero is hoping to become the next successful prizefighter to come out of Nicaragua.

Guerrero will face once-beaten Charlie Clemente-Andino Friday night at the Miccosukee Indian Gaming Resort in Miami, Florida. The 10-round junior bantamweight fight will stream live on the M&R Boxing Promotions Facebook Live page (8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT).

The 23-year-old Guerrero (19-0, 12 knockouts), who resides in Managua, Nicaragua, has faced modest opposition thus far, compiling an unbeaten record as he hopes to contend in a competitive 115-pound weight class.

In his last bout on April 29, which also took place at the Miccosukee Indian Gaming Resort, Guerrero knocked out Luis Hernandez Cambero in the third round. The win over Hernandez took place seven months after Guerrero defeated journeyman Samuel Gutierrez by decision over eight rounds.

Guerrero is managed by William Ramirez, who also manages former IBF world junior flyweight titleholder Felix Alvarado. Ramirez believes Guerrero is the goods and can have a lucrative career, which includes being a world titleholder.

Ramirez also stated Guerrero reminds him of a very famous fighter from Nicaragua.

“Winston fights a lot like Roman (“Chocolatito”) Gonzalez,” Ramirez told The Ring Wednesday. “His style is a lot similar to his. They’ve sparred a lot together when they were based in Nicaragua.”

Now living and training in Miami, Guerrero trains alongside Alvarado.

An impressive win over Puerto Rico’s Clemente (12-1, 5 KOs) could move Guerrero up the rankings and position himself to fight in more high-profile fights.

“I’ve handled his career since the beginning,” said Ramirez. “This is his first regional title fight and his third fight in the United States. After this fight, we’re hoping for bigger and better and the potential to fight the top fighters in 2024.

“Winston is surrounded by good people, including Felix. They work out together. He’s learning from the best. He has a good style for the pros.”

In the co-feature fight on the M&R Promotions card, unbeaten lightweight Chann Thonson (15-0, 12 KOs) of Broussard, Canada will square off against Denver’s Juan Santiago (16-23-3, 9 KOs) in a 10-round bout.

Junior welterweight prospect Tayre Jones (10-0, KOs) of nearby Fort Lauderdale will face Argentina’s Ramon De La Cruz Sena (23-36-3, 13 KOs) in an eight-round bout.
