Photos: Stevenson-De Los Santos, Navarrete-Conceicao make weight in Vegas
All fighters for Thursday’s world title doubleheader at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas made weight on Wednesday afternoon.
Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) of Newark, N.J. checked in at 133.8 pounds for his 12-round main event fight against Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, who weighed in at 134.3 pounds. The vacant WBC lightweight title will be at stake after Devin Haney was named champion “in recess” as he moved up to 140 pounds to challenge Regis Prograis for his WBC junior welterweight title.
Stevenson, 26, is looking to become a world titleholder in a third weight class after collecting belts at 126 and 130 pounds, while De Los Santos, 24, is challenging for his first world title.
In the co-featured bout, Emanuel Navarrete (38-1, 31 KOs) of San Juan Zitlaltepec, Mexico will defend his WBO junior lightweight title against Robson Conceição (17-2, 8 KOs) of Salvador, Brazil. Both fighters made the weight, with Navarrete coming in exactly at the 130-pound limit while Conceição was slightly under at 129.3 pounds.
The fight is the second defense for Navarrete, 28, while Conceição, 35, is hoping his third title opportunity is the charm.
The two title fights will be shown live on ESPN in the United States, with the broadcast to begin at 10:30 p.m. The undercard will be shown live on ESPN+, beginning at 5:40 p.m. ET.
