Golden Boy Promotions announced in a press release today that a series similar to Fight Night Club, which featured rising young fighters, will premiere on March 6 at the historic Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

Jo Jo Diaz, a 2012 U.S. Olympian, will be the headline performer in the first show.

The new series, part of Golden Boy Live! on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes, will give the deep pool of talented boxers in Southern California another platform on which to grow and demonstrate their ability.

The ring will be set up on the main floor of the theater, with ample standing room for fans in what will be a night club atmosphere. Fans can also reserve seats on the floor or in the balcony.

Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya will host a press conference next week in L.A. to discuss details of the new series, including the fighters who will be on the first card.

“The rebooted series will be the most unique sports and entertainment event in downtown Los Angeles every month, providing an experience unlike any other the city has to offer,” De La Hoya said. “The series will give the hardcore fans, the casual fans and new fans the opportunity to get up close to the ring, to feel like they are part of the fight and enjoy the experience in a VIP club atmosphere.

“It has been a dream of mine to bring this exciting live event back to my hometown of Los Angeles.”

The original Fight Night Club series, at Nokia Theater at L.A. Live, featured such fighters as Abner Mares, Victor Ortiz, Ronny Rios, Carlos Molina, Jessie Vargas and Luis Ramos Jr.

Tickets for the March 6 event go on sale next week and are priced at $20, $40 and $80. Additional VIP packages are available.
