Jared Anderson will face a new opponent for his hometown fight on July 1.

Anderson will now reportedly face former titleholder Charles Martin. BoxingScene’s Keith Idec was the first to break the story.

The 10-round bout will take place at the Huntington Center, in Toledo, Ohio, and will air live on ESPN (10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT).

Anderson was originally scheduled to face Zhan Kossobutskiy of Kazakhstan, but Kossobutskiy (19-0, 18 knockouts) had to withdraw from the fight after reportedly facing difficulties securing a visa, preventing him from entering the United States.

Martin will be a significant step up in opposition for Anderson. The 37-year-old is a former IBF heavyweight titlist and has faced better opposition throughout his career than Kossobutskiy.

In his most recent bout, on September 4, Martin (29-3-1, 26 KOs), who is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and now resides in Carson, California, knocked out Devin Vargas in the fourth round. In his previous fight, on January 1 of last year, Martin engaged in an all-out war with heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz, accumulating four knockdowns between the two before Ortiz won by stoppage in the sixth round.

A source told The Ring, Monday, that Martin was originally scheduled to face unbeaten prospect Gurgen Hovhannisyan in the opening bout of the Errol Spence Jr.-Terence Crawford pay-per-view telecast on July 29.

Anderson (14-0, 14 KOs) stopped George Arias after the third round of his most recent bout on April 8. In his previous fight, Anderson stopped fringe contender Jerry Forrest in the second round.

The 23-year-old also has second-round wins over Vladimir Tereshkin and Oleksandr Teslenko.

In the co-feature, which will also air live on ESPN, unbeaten heavyweights Arslanbek Makhmudov (16-0, 15 KOs), of Montreal, Canada, will square off against Nigeria’s Raphael Akpejiori (15-0, 14 KOs) in a 10-round bout.
