After the final bell sounded to end their welterweight clash, Eddie Ramirez thought he did more than enough to win a clear decision on Tuesday night. That was until he heard one scorecard go in favor of his opponent, Erick Bone.

Luckily for Ramirez, the other two judges scored the bout correctly.

Ramirez won a 10-round split decision over Bone Tuesday night at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas.

With the win, Ramirez goes to 17-0 (with 11 knockouts). Bone falls to 16-5 (8 KOs).

Tuesday’s bout between Ramirez and Bone was a crossroads match-up between two junior welterweights whose careers were obviously going in different directions. Ramirez is considered a top prospect, who had stopped four of his previous six opponents prior to the Bone fight.

Bone had lost three in a row, with those losses coming to Shawn Porter, Chris Algieri and Miguel Vazquez.

Ramirez dominated the fight during its first half, mixing combinations to the head and body, scoring repeatedly with right hands. Bone, who resides in Ecuador, began to let his hands go in round seven, landing right hands of his own to Ramirez’s head.

Bone was stunned early in round 10 but was the more effective fighter as the bell sounded to end the fight.

Judge Adelaide Byrd scored the bout 97-93 for Bone, while Glenn Trowbridge and Tim Cheatam, along with RingTV.com, scored the bout 97-93 in favor of Ramirez, who resides in the Chicago suburb of Aurora.

In a battle of unbeaten featherweights, Xavier Martinez defeated Prince Smalls via a one-sided unanimous decision over eight rounds.

Martinez improves to 8-0 (with 4 KOs), while Smalls drops to 11-1-1 (with 4 KOs).

The shorter Martinez was able to close the distance and connect repeatedly and accurately with right hands against Smalls, who had a four-once reach advantage. Martinez hurt Smalls with about a minute left in round seven but was not able to drop Smalls.

All three judges scored the bout 80-71 in favor of Martinez.

In the opening bout of the “PBC on FS1” telecast, junior welterweight Dennis Galarza won a foul-filled 10-round unanimous decision over Omar Tienda (18-5, 11 KOs) of Mexico, who was deducted a point in round nine from referee Robert Byrd for throwing Galarza down to the canvas.

Scores were 100-89, 99-90 and 98-91 in favor of Galarza (16-2, 9 KOs).

In an upset, super middleweight Lanell Bellows (16-3-1, 9 KOs) was knocked out by Mike Snider (13-4-3, 8 KOs) in round three.

Welterweight gatekeeper Cameron Kreal (11-12-2, 3 KOs) knocked out Genaro Mendez (11-4-1, 6 KOs) in the third round.
