Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek, former heavyweight contender “Fast” Eddie Chambers, and middleweight Curtis “Showtime” Stevens will highlight an Aug. 3 show from Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., that will be televised on NBC Sports at 10:30 P.M.

Chambers (36-3, 18 knockouts), of Philadelphia, weighed a career-low 202 pounds for his last ring appearance, a disputed split-decision loss to Adamek, who came in at 225 for their fight in June.

On the Aug. 3 card, Chambers, 31, will debut as a 200-pounder against Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu (13-1, 10 KOs), of South Africa, a muscular 24-year old southpaw who will be after his fourth straight stoppage victory since being knocked out in the sixth round by Zack Mwekassa in September of 2011.

“Mchunu is going to make this a very interesting fight, but I do not believe that there is a cruiserweight in the world who can beat Eddie Chambers,” said Kathy Duva, president of Main Events.

“It is to Eddie’s advantage that, with so much world-class experience, he is still only 31 years old. He has been fighting people who are twice his size for many years and beating them with his speed and smarts. At cruiserweight he will still be the fastest man in the ring and, perhaps, the biggest puncher.”

At the start of his career, Stevens (24-3, 17 KOs), who is 28, was among the hardest punchers in the super middleweight division. But he will compete as a middleweight on Aug. 3 against the hammer-fisted Saul Roman (37-9, 31 KOs), who turns 33 next month.

Roman will be after his fourth straight victory and his third consecutive stoppage win since being knocked out in the seventh round by Vanes Martirosyan in June of 2011.

“By early next year,” said Duva, “Both Stevens and Chambers should be in title fights.”

Adamek (48-2, 29 KOs), 36, was last in the ring for December’s split-decision victory over former RING 200-pound champion Steve Cunningham. Adamek will face an opponent to be determined.
