Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer has received an application from rapper 50 Cent (aka, Curtis Jackson), who is attempting to become a promoter in the wake of having launched TMT (“The Money Team”) Promotions with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Jackson already has obtained a license in New York, according to New York State Athletic Commission director Melvina Lathan. Kizer acknowledged reception of Jackson’s application, but was out of the office on Monday.

“We did receive the application late last week,” Kizer wrote to RingTV.com in an e-mail. “I have not had time to review it yet, as we had that big meeting last Friday.”

Kizer was referring to the Aug. 24 session of the NSAC, during which referees and judges were named to upcoming, Las Vegas-based fights, among other things.

“Basically you’re looking for three things” in regard to an applicant’s qualifications for being a promoter, said Kizer. “We’re looking at the background of the people involved and their personal history. You’re also looking at the financial wherewithal of the company and then you’re also looking at the ability of the company to do promotions. In other words, whether they have the business acumen to do promotions.”

TMT already has signed super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell, former featherweight titleholder Yuriorkis Gamboa and Australian IBF featherweight beltholder Billy Dib as well as WBA “regular” featherweight titleholder Celestino Caballero.

Former two-division titleholder, Zab Judah also has reportedly met with 50 Cent, as has former welterweight beltholder Andre Berto, according to reports.
