Another fight, another knockout victory for Javier Fortuna.

The former junior lightweight titleholder knocked out Mario Beltre in the second round late Saturday night at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic.

Fortuna improves to 32-1-1 (with 23 knockouts), while Beltre falls to 16-3 (with 11 KOs).

It was a stay-busy bout for Fortuna, who has now won three bouts in a row. His only loss occurred exactly one year ago from Saturday night. Fortuna dropped Jason Sosa in round five and was ahead on two scorecards before being stopped in round 11, losing his WBA 130-pound title in the process.

Beltre entered the bout 2-2 in his previous four bouts.

It was a match-up of fighters who are from the Dominican Republic but Fortuna was far more-polished, even though he was the aggressor from the opening bell. Fortuna, who is managed by Sampson Lewkowicz, dropped Beltre in round one and the end was near for the overmatched Beltre.

The southpaw Fortuna ended matters in the following round, throwing and landing a right hook to the body, dropping Beltre to the canvas, where he was counted out.

Fortuna has fought his last two bouts at 133 pounds but is stilled ranked No. 4 by the WBA and No. 9 by the IBF at 130 pounds.

Two fighters who are also managed by Lewkowicz fought on the Santo Domingo card.

Junior middleweight Jeison Rosario (13-1, 10 KOs) bounced back from his stoppage loss to Nathaniel Gallimore on April 29 with a second round TKO victory over super middleweight prospect David Nunez (5-1, 2 KOs).

Hard-hitting junior lightweight Abrahan Nova (7-0, 6 KOs) of Puerto Rico quickly dispatched Andres Zapata (7-2, with 5 KOs) with a first round technical knockout victory.
