You can knock Chris Van Heerden down, but you cannot knock the fight out of Chris Van Heerden.

The native of South Africa moved up to junior middleweight and was knocked down twice before being stopped by unbeaten Errol Spence on Sep. 11.

Seven months later, Van Heerden returns to the ring looking to move into title contention.

Van Heerden will square off against Steve Claggett this Saturday night at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center in Las Vegas. The 10-round welterweight bout will air live on CBS Sports Network, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. PT.

Now residing in Santa Monica, California, Van Heerden has been employed as a sparring partner for the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto.

Claggett (23-3-1, 16 KOs) has won his last three bouts since a loss to Konstantin Ponomarev in January of last year.

In his last bout, on Sept. 18, Claggett stopped Stuart McLellan in the third round in his hometown of Calgary, Canada.

Opening the broadcast, junior middleweight Neeco Macias fights Limberth Ponce in an eight-round bout.

The undefeated Macias last fought on Feb. 6, stopping Paul Mpendo after the fifth round, while Ponce has won his last four bouts, all by knockout.
