One of the more intriguing young heavyweights in a revitalized division is ready to take his next step in his development.
Brooklyn’s Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller is scheduled to face Razvan Cojanu in a main event on May 27 hosted by the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, New York, Greg Cohen, who promotes Miller with Dmitriy Salita, told RingTV.com on Thursday.
Miller (16-0-1, 14 knockouts) dazzled in his last outing, stopping Donovan Dennis in the seventh round on Jan. 22 on Showtime’s “ShoBox” series. Cohen and Salita would like for the 27-year-old Miller to fight four times this year after notching five bouts last year. “People are excited for the heavyweight division again,” Cohen said. “And people want to see good young heavyweights. They want to see heavyweights who can fight and also entertain and Jarrell can do both.”
The 6-foot-4 Miller will defend a regional title against Cojanu, who is 6-foot-7 and was knocked out by Dennis in two rounds last April. His record is currently 14-2 (7 KOs). Their bout, scheduled for 10 rounds, is part of a CBS Sports Network “Championship Boxing” series, and is co-promoted by Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions.
