Sergey Kovalev unmoved by Jean Pascal’s allegations of racism
In case you missed it, Jean Pascal looked to get under the skin, a thick Russian variety, apparently, of his Saturday night foe Sergey Kovalev.
He continued his theme, now used at two pressers and a conference call, that Kovalev has racist tendencies at a Wednesday presser in Montreal.
So, Mr. Kovalev, what was your reaction to the theatrical display by Mr. Pascal this morning?
“He is trash talker, and he let all word know today who is who,” the light heavyweight ace told me.
Did his accusations anger you?
“Not at all,” said the 28-0-1 hitter, who hopes to down the Montrealer in the sequel and then serve an ugly welcome to Andre Ward to the 75 hood.
So, how does one stay composed after hearing such public accusations, meant to embarrass, I assume?
“Pascal is just playing stupid,” Kovalev told me.
You think he’s just trying to hype the fight?
“Maybe? You need to ask him what he is trying to do. In my opinion he is stupid.”
