If Jose Felix Jr. wants to make a move in the lightweight division, now is the time.

With Terence Crawford now competing at 140 pounds and Felix Verdejo likely fighting for a world title late next year, Felix could find opportunities to fight for a world title sooner than he thinks.

He faces Marcos Leonardo Jimenez on Saturday night at the Sportsmans Lodge in Studio City, a suburb of Los Angeles, Calif.

The 10-round bout is the main event of a Top Rank Promotions card and will air on UniMas, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/ PT.

Felix (30-1-1, 24 KOs) suffered his only loss as a pro in April of last year to Bryan Vasquez. The fight was as at junior lightweight and, since then, Felix has moved up in weight and has won his last four bouts in a row.

In his last bout on June 13, Felix survived a knockdown in the ninth round to win a hard-fought, 10-round unanimous decision over Yakubu Amidu in nearby Hollywood.

Felix, who is from the fighting town of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, is ranked number seven by the IBF.

Jimenez (20-5, 13 KOs) has not fought since March of last year, when he lost a 10-round, unanimous decision to Anthony Peterson. He has lost three of his last five bouts.

In the opening bout of the ‘Solo Boxeo Tecate’ telecast, junior lightweight Pedro Duran will fight Erick Orozco in a six-round bout.

Also on the card, Leonardo Zappavigna of Australia will fight Ramon Ayala in an eight-round, junior welterweight bout.

Unbeaten light heavyweight Oleksandr Gvozdyk, who is trained by Robert Garcia, will fight hard-hitting Francisco Sierra in an eight-round bout.

Unbeaten light heavyweight Trevor McCumby of Phoenix will fight Brian Holstein in an eight-round bout.
