Eric Hunter-Antonio Escalante headline May 22 Golden Boy Live card

Featherweight fringe contender Eric Hunter will take on veteran slugger Antonio Escalante on May 22 in a 10-round Golden Boy Live main event at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. Hunter-Escalante and bouts featuring unbeaten prospect Abraham Lopez and Chinese heavyweight Taishan will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes.

Hunter (19-3, 9 KOs), a 28-year-old boxer from Philadelphia, has won his last three bouts since a first-round DQ loss to Mike Oliver in 2013.

Escalante (29-7, 20 KOs), a 29-year-old veteran from El Paso, Texas is 5-3 in last eight bouts, winning and losing all by knockout.

In the televised opening bout, heavyweight project Taishan (4-0, 2 KOs), will face an opponent yet to be named in a four-round bout. Taishan outpointed Jamal Woods at Minute Maid Park in Houston on May 9 as part of the undercard for Canelo-Kirkland.



Lopez (17-0-1, 12 KOs), a 27-year-old resident of La Puente, California, will face a yet to be named opponent in the 10-round co-main event

Also, added to the non-televised undercard, Antonio Gutierrez (18-0-1, 8 KOs), of Tijuana, Mexico, will fight in a six-round middleweight bout and Neeco Macias (8-0, 4 KOs), of Palm Desert, Calif., is scheduled for a six-round welterweight bout. Los Angeles native, Joet Gonzalez will make his second appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in a six-round super bantamweight bout hoping to make air time. Opponents will be announced shortly.
