Perfect Execution, the popular illustrated technical guide to boxing by legendary champion Bernard Hopkins, is back as a regular feature in the pages of THE RING magazine. That includes the May 2015 issue, which is on newsstands now.
RingTV’s Bill Emes ventured to Philadelphia, prior to Hopkins’ IBF-WBA light heavyweight title unification victory over Beibut Shumenov, to capture a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot and interview for the ongoing series.
The tenth installment of the new Perfect Execution focuses on the boxer’s best friend in the gym: the heavy bag.
“The importance of hitting the heavy bag is for building your power,” says Hopkins. “The heavy bag doesn’t hit back and you have a chance to really sit down on your punches. Any young fighter wants to use the heavy bag as a way to sharpen your technique in finding out how you can dig into the body and do basically everything from A to Z.”
