RING No. 1-rated strawweight Hekkie Budler of South Africa will make the third defense of his WBA belt against mandatory challenger Jesus Silvestre on Feb. 21 in Monte Carlo, according to promoter Rodney Berman.

A winner of 10 straight fights, four by knockout, Budler (27-1, 9 knockouts) will face Silvestre (30-5, 22 KOs) on the undercard of a main event featuring WBA middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin versus Martin Murray.

Budler, 26, last suffered defeat by split decision to Gideon Buthelezi in January 2011 and is coming off last month’s unanimous decision victory over RING No. 9-rated Xiong Zhao Zhong.

The 25-year-old Silvestre, of Mexico, has scored two consecutive knockouts since falling by split decision to Eduardo Martinez in April, a third-round technical knockout over Eduardo Cruz Munoz in August and a fifth-round stoppage of Josue Vega on Nov. 8.

Golovkin made the 12th defense of his title with a second-round knockout of Marco Antonio Rubio last month, representing his 18th consecutive stoppage victory.

Murray has won four straight fights since falling by unanimous decision to then-RING champion Sergio Martinez, whom he floored in the eighth round in April 2013. Murray is coming off last month’s seventh-round technical decision victory over Domenico Spada.
