Two intriguing bouts featuring fighters on the cusp of contender status will take place on July 11.

Middleweight Tureano Johnson will fight unbeaten Mike Gavronski and lightweight Art Hovhannisyan squares off against Jonathan Maicelo of Peru. Both 10-round bouts will take place at the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Wash. and will be broadcast live on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights.

Johnson (14-1, 10 KOs) suffered his first defeat as a pro on April 4 at the hands of Curtis Stevens. The Bahamas native was less than a minute away from a convincing 10 round unanimous decision before Stevens hurt Johnson, prompting a stoppage by the referee.

Despite the defeat, Johnson's stock went up as a pro considering the fight was supposed to be a showcase bout for Stevens and Johnson performed better than most people predicted.

Gavronski (14-0-1, 10 KOs) may have the crowd support in his favor as he lives in nearby Tacoma. He is coming off a six round majority decision over Kevin Hand in his last fight on April 14.

The Hovhannisyan-Maicelo bout will feature two lightweights with one loss on their records.

After suffering his only loss to Alejandro Perez in February of last year, Hovhannnisyan (17-1-2, 9 KOs) has won his last two bouts in a row. In his last bout on April 12, Hovhannisyan won an eight round unanimous decision over Miguel Zuniga.

Maicelo (20-1, 12 KOs) has not fought since October 19, when he fought to a no contest in the third round against Jorge Luis Rodriguez in his native Peru. Maicelo suffered his only defeat of his career at the hands of Rustam Nugaev (a knockout loss in the eighth round) in April of last year.
Gary Shaw will promote the card.
