Award winning artist Richard T. Slone, known worldwide for his paintings and illustrations of fighters, has been commissioned to create the official artwork for “The One” — the upcoming super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and RING junior middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez on Showtime Pay Per View on Sept. 14.

Not only will Slone be ringside to complete a series of paintings for Mayweather-Alvarez, which is co-featured by a junior welterweight bout between RING champion Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse, but he will also be hosting an exhibit of his works at the MGM Grand, site of the event, Sept. 12-15.

Slone is the official artist of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. He has created artwork for many major sporting and celebrity events, and has a list of collectors which includes modern day icons such as Nelson Mandela, Donald Trump, Muhammad Ali and Hugh Hefner.

Slone’s creations have become synonymous with some of boxing’s super fights, having created official artwork for matchups including those of Mayweather, Oscar De la Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.

“Having Richard T. Slone creating unique artwork for this fight is a thrill and an honor for us at Golden Boy Promotions,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “Mr. Slone is the new leader in sports art throughout the world, and having him involved with this mega event adds to an already historic night.”

Slone has already created two pre-fight paintings, and will create his third after having completed sketches from ringside. Slone’s prefight paintings include an intense stare down, which is being used on all events tickets, and a full action painting titled “The One,” which Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe has called “A masterpiece.”

Slone’s pre-fight paintings of the unbeaten champions will adorn commemorative tickets and official fight posters. There will also be a special limited edition of only 75 museum quality fine art canvas prints. Fight fans who are unable to attend the live event but who wish to purchase the art, may visit www.sloneart.com.

“It’s an honor to create art for this amazing event. It gives me chills to think these paintings will be part of the great history of boxing, like important fight paintings by George Bellows and LeRoy Neiman,” said Sloane. “Both of these warriors will be giving it their all. It’s going to be an all-time classic fight, and I’ll try to capture that in my paintings.”
