On Sept. 14, RING junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia will put his undefeated record, WBA and WBC belts on the line against RING No. 1-rated Lucas Matthysse. The bout will be the co-feature to the Showtime Pay Per View clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In April, WBO middleweight beltholder Peter Quillin scored two second-round knockdowns 30 seconds apart, and dropped his man twice more in the seventh and final round of a technical knockout over Fernando Guerrero for the first defense of his title.

Coming up, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has informed RingTV.com that his company will be looking to make a heavyweight bout between Seth Mitchell and Chris Arreola for September, as well as one, potentially, between junior middleweights Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout.

All of the above fighters (except Alvarez) are advised by Al Haymon, who is considered by many to be the most powerful and influential man in boxing.

“We have said that Lara and Austin Trout would be an interesting fight…it’s something that we internally discussed, the fact that it might be interesting. As it relates to Al Haymon fighters facing each other…there was never an issue that Al Haymon fighters could not fight each other,” said Schaefer, addressing a long-rumored assertion regarding Haymon and his stable of boxers.

“I think that Al is one of the smartest business people that I’ve ever met, and how could he sign all of these fighters to the point where he represents 80 or 90 percent of the talent which matters, and then, they can not fight each other? That was never an issue. I think that it’s some of those more jealous people and other promoters who started to spread those rumors.”

Haymon’s impressive list of clients also includes Devon Alexander, Andre Berto, Adrien Broner and Gary Russell Jr., among others.

Schaefer said that the subject of Haymon’s fighters meeting in the ring surfaced during Thursday’s national conference call announcing Garcia-Matthysse.

“Al Haymon wants to make sure that the best are fighting the best. Most importantly, he wants to make sure that his clients make the most money,” said Schaefer, during the RingTV.com interview.

“I think that he’s doing a pretty good job if you take into consideration that his star client, the pound-for-pound king, Money Mayweather, is not only the highest paid fighter, but the highest paid athlete in any sport. So I think that Al Haymon knows how to maximize revenues for his client, and he’s the best in the business.”
