Seth Mitchell avenged his second-round knockout loss to Johnathon Banks, winning a unanimous decision on the Adrien Broner-Paulie Malignaggi card Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Mitchell (26-1-1, 19 knockouts) seemed to be hurt badly in the third round but this time survived and outworked Banks (29-2-1, 19 KOs) the rest of the way to win by a convincing margin. The scores were 115-112, 117-109 and 114-112. I had it 116-110 for Mitchell.

Banks had an opportunity to repeat the knockout late in the third round, when a right hand and follow up punches dazed Mitchell. However, Mitchwell survived by holding onto to Banks in the final seconds.

Mitchell then took control of the fight, outworking an inexplicably inactive Banks for most of the remainder of the fight. Mitchell was dazed once more, in the eighth round, but bounced back quickly.

Banks outlanded Mitchell, landing 90 of 261 punches to 84 of 417 for the winner, but his punches were concentrated in a few dominating rounds.

A full report will follow shortly.
