Unbeaten lightweight contender Sharif “The Lion” Bogere has suffered a partial tear of the left Achilles tendon that has forced him out of his scheduled Nov. 24 bout with Richard Abril that was to be for the WBA belt at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.

Fortunately for Bogere (23-0, 15 KOs), there was no evidence of a rupture in the 24 year old’s tendon, meaning that he can expect to be cleared to resume training in approximately four to six weeks.

Talks are ongoing with respect to a date on which to reschedule the title fight with Abril (17-3-1, 8 KOs), which was slated for the HBO-televised undercard of a main event featuring WBC welterweight contender Robert Guerrero and two-time 147-pound beltholder Andre Berto.

The card will also incllude a contracted 152-pound bout between hard-punching welterweight Keith Thurman (18-0, 17 KOs) and former WBO 147-pound beltlholder Carlos Quintana (29-3, 23 KOs),
