Chad Dawson bounced back from his first career loss by easily outpointing Adrian Diaconu in a 12-round light heavyweight bout on the Jean Pascal-Bernard Hopkins card Saturday in Montreal.

Dawson, coming off a loss to Pascal, wasn’t the fiery fighter new trainer Emanuel Steward wants him to be but he was the sublimely skilled fighter he has always been.

Dawson (30-1, 17 knockouts) outboxed and outworked the shorter Diaconu (27-3, 15 KOs) from a distance for almost every minute of every round, although the fight wasn’t particularly entertaining.

Dawson landed a high percentage of his power shots, according to punch stats, but never hurt his foe. Diaconu, a resident of Montreal, got the crowd’s attention with a few hard punches but moments were fleeting.

The judges scored it 117-111, 118-110 and 116-112 in Dawson's favor. RingTV.com scored it 118-110 for Dawson.

Pascal , THE RING light heavyweight champion, and Hopkins have both said they’d be interested in fighting Dawson if they win on Saturday.
