ANAHEIM, Calif. — Saul Alvarez defeated Matthew Hatton by a one-sided ananimous decision before about 10,000 Saturday at the Honda Center.

Alvarez, the bigger and stronger of the two, imposed his will on the Englishman throughout the fight. He landed hard combinations and painful-to-watch body shots consistently, apparently hurting Hatton at several junctures.

However, Hatton, in tremendous shape and determined to survive, somehow finished the less-than-competitive fight on his fight. He held Alvarez whenever he was in trouble, particularly in the second half of the fight.

The scores: 119-108, 119-108 and 119-108.

The fight was for the WBC junior middleweight title.
