Perez, Molina score TKOs
Junior lightweight prospect Eloy Perez dominated Derrick Camps to a fifth-round technical stoppage in the co-feature to a Telefutura-televised card from Pico Rivera, Calif., on Friday.
Perez (18-0-2, 5 knockouts), of Salinas, Calif., controlled the fight with a crisp, educated jab and blocked and counter punched well whenever Campos (20-9, 11 KOs), of Topeka, Kansas, tried to get off.
Perez buckled the legs of Campos with a cross-hook combination at the start of the fifth and punished his retreating opponent for the rest of the round until the referee waved the bout off at the 2:02 mark.
In the co-featured bout of the Solo Boxeo broadcast, lightweight prospect Carlos Molina out-classed game Glen Gonzalez to a TKO when Gonzalez stayed on his stool following the fifth round.
Molina, of Rosemead, Calif., was the aggressor and the sharper boxer throughout the bout. Gonazlez, a southpaw from Salinas by way of the Philippines, did his best to compete with Molina but consistently beat to the punch until a right hand opened a nasty cut over his right eye.
Gonzalez's corner kept him on his stool after the fifth.
