Junior welterweight titleholder Amir Khan has received the P1 visa (to work in the U.S.) he ventured to Vancouver, Canada to obtain and will head to New York City on Sunday in order to defend his belt against top contender Paulie Malignaggi at the Theater in Madison Square Garden on Saturday, May 15.

The interesting 140-pound matchup, which will be televised on HBO, was never in jeopardy but an administrative delay in the issuing of Khan's visa
caused the temporary (one week) relocation of his training camp locale from Hollywood, Calif., where he normally trains with coach Freddie Roach, to Vancouver, which made some insiders nervous as the May 15 showdown drew closer.

“This is great news and I can't wait to get to New York to finish up my training, get in the ring next Saturday and teach Paulie Malignaggi a lesson,” said Khan. “He's been running his mouth for a while now and was probably hoping I wouldn't get into New York. Well, Paulie, I'm on my way and you're going to be my next knockout victim on May 15.”

Upon hearing the news about Khan's visa, Malignaggi said, “Welcome back to America, Amir. Now get ready for some punishment on May 15.”
