There could be an abundance of gold on Nov. 19.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields is in advanced talks to appear on the undercard of Sergey Kovalev’s light heavyweight championship against Andre Ward Nov. 19 at T-Mobile Arena on HBO PPV, multiple sources confirmed to RingTV.com on Wednesday.

The Flint, Michigan native is close to Ward, who is the last American male to capture gold at the Olympics in 2004. Promoters for Nov. 19 have announced two undercard fights for the PPV but have yet to reveal a third. Shields could appear on the televised portion or in another slot. No matter where she turns up, Shields is sure to add an extra layer of intrigue. The news of Shields possibly appearing on the undercard was first reported by Keith Idec.

Shields breezed to a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Games, her skill and charisma on constant display. And while Ward and Kovalev are two of the biggest stars in the sport, Shields would surely garner a healthy chunk of mainstream attention based on her accolades. She’s the first U.S. boxer to win back-to-back Olympic championships, male or female, after she also struck gold in 2012. She has yet to sign with a promoter but has previously said that Roc Nation Sports, which handles Ward, has expressed interest in signing her.
