As first reported by RingTV.com, former U.S. Olympian Joseph Diaz Jr. (20-0, 11 knockouts) will return to action on July 30, it was announced on Tuesday. Diaz Jr. will face an opponent to be determined at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California on HBO Latino. Diaz will co-headline the card with fellow unbeaten Antonio Orozco (24-0, 16 KOs) — also against an opponent to be announced.

“Antonio Orozco and Joseph Diaz, Jr. are two fighters quickly rising to the top in Golden Boy’s stable of talent, with both poised to become world champions in the near-future,” Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions said in a press release. “This card will be action-packed, making for an exciting summer event that fans should not miss on July 30 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and HBO Latino Boxing.”

Both SoCal fighters have quickly risen up the ranks; Orozco, 28, has conquered former titleholders Humberto Soto and Steve Forbes, as well as respected veteran Emmanuel Taylor at junior welterweight and appears on the verge of a title shot. Diaz, a former 2012 U.S. Olympian, won impressively on the undercard of Andre Ward-Sullivan Barrera in March in his HBO debut against Jayson Velez at featherweight.
