While the boxing world awaits Terence Crawford and Leo Santa Cruz to step in the ring, along with the highly-anticipated Carl Frampton-Scott Quigg bout on Saturday night, a battle between fringe junior bantamweight contenders will take place this evening.
Miguel Cartagena will fight Ricardo Rodriguez in a 10-round bout at the Community Center in Palm Bay, Florida.
Cartagena (14-2, 5 knockouts) has not fought since July 4, when he won a 10-round unanimous decision over Javier Franco. The bout came eight months after Cartagena was knocked out in the first round by unbeaten prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez.
Cartagena is 2-2 in his last four bouts.
Rodriguez (12-3, 4 KOs), who hails from Mexico City, DF, Mexico, has been the more active fighter of the two. In his last bout on Oct. 16, Rodriguez lost a 10-round split decision to David Carmona.
The loss to Carmona snapped a three-bout winning streak over a span of nine months.
The Cartagena-Rodriguez bout will commence the 2016 campaign of “Boxeo Telemundo.” All Star Boxing Promotions will promote the card.
