WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman had "a very productive meeting" with IBF President Daryl Peoples and WBA Vice President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. in Cancun, Mexico on Monday.

The union was called "to discuss and address how we can work better together," said Sulaiman. Along with Peoples, IBF Championships Chairman Lindsey Tucker was in attendance as well, IBF Public Relations Director Jeanette Salazar informed RingTV.com on Monday.

"The meeting was, let say, maybe five or six hours. We had a good dinner on Sunday and also on Monday after the meeting. So we kept talking. It was a very productive meeting," said Sulaiman during a telephone conversation with RingTV.com on Tuesday from Cancun.

"We sat down with good will and good intentions and we made very good progress. We watched the World Cup soccer game between Mexico and Croatia and we continued to have discussions. We have very good intentions and had great conversation toward making some changes. We closed on a very positive note. I'm very happy and very confident that there are good things to come."

Sulaiman said that he, Peoples and Mendoza determined they would like to have a tournament toward determining a single division titleholder and also discussed stricter rules regarding official weigh-ins, pre-weigh-ins, more stringent anti-doping procedures and the use of certificated gloves and total respect to ranked fighters.

Sulaiman said that he anticipates holding at least two more meetings this year, one of which will take place in July in Clearwater, Fla., and the other on Sept. 24 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, near Cancun.

In the interim, Sulaiman said he, Mendoza and Peoples have assigned task forces within their respective organizations which have been instructed to address their topics of discussion.

"We're going to try to meet in July during the ABC convention and then the next confirmed meeting will be on Sept. 24. We have formed a task team to address each topic toward developing more continuity with all that we have discussed," said Sulaiman.

"We want to further develop all of our ideas and all of the agreements that were discussed, so we have some homework to do and some reports to work on within all three of the organizations. We will need to go through each of our constitutions to try to address all of the matters."

Starting at 10 p.m., ET/PT on Tuesday night, Showtime will replay Saturday's tripleheader from the StubHub Center during which two-division titlist Devon Alexander unanimously decisioned welterweight rival Jesus Soto Karass, two-time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko did the same in dominant fashion over Gary Russell Jr. for the WBO's vacant featherweight belt and former titleholder Robert Guerrero (32-2-1, 18 KOs) ended a 13-month ring absence with a slugfest and a unanimous decision victory over Yoshihiro Kamegai (24-2-1, 21 KOs) in the wleterweight main event.

Both southpaws, Guerrero and Alexander maintained their statuses within a star-studded group of 147-pounders that includes RING champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., IBF titleholder Shawn Porter, boxer-puncher Keith Thurman Jr. and former junior welterweight titleholder Amir Khan, all of whom have been in action as of late.

In their main event, Guerrero and Kamegai combined to land 777 total punches and 689 power shots, each number representing the most combined in those categories for a 2014 fight tracked by CompuBox.

DURAN, HOLYFIELD CONFIRM ATTENDANCE AT THIS YEAR'S NEVADA BOXING HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS

Four-time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and four-division champion Roberto Duran, known as "Manos de Piedra" or "Hands of Stone," have confirmed their attendance at the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame inductions on August 9 at the Cohiba Ballroom of the New Tropicana Las Vegas, founder Rich Marotta has announced.

Holyfield turns 52 in October and Duran celebrated his 63rd birthday on June 16. They will be inducted along with former heavyweight champion George Foreman.

"If you don't quit, eventually you will win," said Holyfield. "Right behind excuses is success."

Among Duran's greatest comeback achievements was an eighth-round stoppage of Davey Moore at Madison Square Garden in New York on Duran's 33rd birthday on June 16, 1983.

"It's an honor and a true privilege," said Duran, reached in Panama, "to be inducted into the Nevada Hall of Fame with great boxing legends like Mr. Foreman and Mr. Holyfield."

Also among this year's 18 inductees, in the Nevada "Resident" category are late, former heavyweight champion Sonny Liston, whose biggest bout in Las Vegas was his first-round knockout of Floyd Patterson, and ex-lightweight beltholder Cornelius Boza-Edwards, who fought a variety of high-action battles in Nevada.

In the "Adoptive Nevada Resident" category, former heavyweight champ Joe Louis, who lived the last several years of his life in Las Vegas, was chosen. The "Pioneer Boxers" were Jack Dempsey and Archie Moore.

Media inductees will be broadcaster Colonel Bob Sheridan, now approaching his 1,000th televised world title fight, and Kevin Iole, longtime beat writer for the Las Vegas Review Journal and now with Yahoo! Sports.

Trainer Miguel Diaz will be inducted in the "Non-Boxer Participant" class and referees now retired-Richard Steele and the active Kenny Bayless will enter the Hall of Fame. From the world of promotions, Top Rank Promotions matchmaker Bruce Trampler was elected and in the "Executive" class, two longtime contributors to the Nevada Athletic Commission in Chuck Minker and Luther Mack are new entrants.

Inducted in the "Special Contributors" Category will be hotel executives Clifford Perlman and Steve Wynn. Perlman ushered in the era of big fights at Caesars Palace and Wynn opened his Mirage with Sugar Ray Leonard's unanimous decision over Roberto Duran in their third fight, followed by Holyfield's third-round knockout of Buster Douglas.
