Oscar De La Hoya: Canelo-Golovkin rematch talks going slow, but it and other big fights will happen in 2018

RingTV’s Cynthia Conte spoke to Golden Boy Promotion’s Oscar De La Hoya about the Canelo-Golovkin rematch negotiations and optimistic plans for 2018 at his equipment donation charity event at Garden Grove Boxing community center in Garden Grove, California.

Why should they be going slow… Ggg wants the fight and canela says so too… Want could be the prob

I think they’re clearly waiting for the BJS-Lemieux fight to happen and the dust to settle. If either fighter looks very good, then that guy will be more marketable and have a middleweight strap. Both those things will weaken GGG’s leverage in rematch discussions.

Take all the time in the world, Oscar. That rematch is always going to be a repeat of the first: GGG hunting, Canelo looking slick in 15 second bursts. GGG battering him on the ropes, Canelo running, etc.

How about Danny Jacobs and Canelo instead? There’s one that can be fought in the center of the ring until one of them drops.
