CBS debuts ‘Mayweather’ documentary on Saturday
On Saturday at 8 p.m. ET/PT, CBS will debut Mayweather, a one-hour documentary about the life of undefeated eight-time, five-division titleholder Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. in advance of his May 4 fight against Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Showtime Pay Per View.
Narrated by rapper and NCIS: Los Angeles star LL COOL J, Mayweather delves into the career of the world’s highest-paid athlete for 2012.
The broadcast will also will examine Guerrero, whose wife, Casey, is a cancer-survivor, and who himself endured arthroscopic surgery in September of 2011 to repair a torn tendon in the rotator cuff, forcing him to cancel an August bout with Marcos Maidana.
Mayweather will also debut a new song, “We’re The Greatest,” featuring Eddie Van Halen, from LL COOL J’s highly-anticipated new album, Authentic, to be released on April 30.
“LL COOL J’s passion for boxing and his keen performing acumen combine to create the perfect voice to tell the complete life story of Floyd Mayweather,” said Ross Greenburg, the executive producer who has produced multiple documentary series’ on Mayweather as the former president of HBO Sports.
“Mayweather is an honest portrayal of the controversial and charismatic best pound-for-pound boxer in the world and a compelling look at his blue-collar, working-man’s opponent, Robert Guerrero.”
The show airs as part of 100 hours of diverse boxing and documentary programming from Showtime Sports across broadcast, cable and premium television in advance of Mayweather-Guerrero.
