Everyone in Lucas Matthysse’s family has boxed competitively, including his father Mario (pictured), a former pro welterweight who fought 58 bouts. Matthysse, who takes on fellow 140-pound contender Ruslan Provodnikov on Saturday, has made his family name known in the boxing world. His family’s story, however, will always be linked to a country shaped and built by immigrants.
