Ryan Burnett continues to flourish.
The Brit retained his WBA bantamweight title with a complete performance against Yonfrez Parejo over 12 rounds on Saturday in Cardiff, Wales. Two judges scored it a shutout, 120-108, while the third had it much closer at 116-112.
Burnett (19-0, 9 knockouts) is coming off consecutive title victories over Lee Haskins and Zhanat Zhakiyanov. And it’s clear: he’s ready for much bigger challenges.
Parejo (21-3-1, 10 KOs), a fringe contender from Venezuela, was no match. Burnett is THE RING’s No. 3 fighter at 118 pounds, and a matchup with the top man in the division, Zolani Tete, looms as an attractive bout.
