Ivan Baranchyk-Petr Petrov takes place Friday on Showtime

Unbeaten junior welterweight Ivan Baranchyk has a new opponent this Friday night. Promoter Lou DiBella confirmed that the Miami-based Russian will now face former lightweight world title challenger Petr Petrov.
The 12-round bout will take place at the Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota. The bout will precede the 140-pound main event between Regis Prograis (20-0, 17 knockouts) and Julius Indongo (22-1, 11 KOs).
Both fights will air live on Showtime (10 p.m. ET/ 7.00 p.m. PT).
Baranchyk was originally scheduled to face unbeaten European champion Anthony Yigit of Sweden, but Yigit reportedly backed out due to illness.
In his previous bout, on July 14, Baranchyk (17-0, 10 KOs) defeated Keenan Smith by eight-round unanimous decision. Including the Smith victory, Baranchyk has bested five unbeaten fighters within the last two-and-a-half years.
Petrov (38-5-2, 19 KOs) has not fought since Apr. 8, when he lost a 12-round unanimous decision to WBO lightweight titleholder Terry Flanagan. That loss snapped a six-bout win streak.
Originally from Russia and now residing in Madrid Spain, Petrov is best known for winning the 2014 ESPN Boxcino lightweight tournament. He is co-promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing.
