Stevenson added to Terence Crawford-Felix Diaz undercard
After a successful pro debut last month, Shakur Stevenson will return to the ring in supportĀ of the Terence Crawford-Felix Diaz fight on May 20, Top Rank Promotions announced Wednesday.
The 2016 Olympic silver medalist will face Carlos Gaston Suarez of Argentina in a six-round featherweight bout at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The bout will be streamed live on the Top Rank website.
Stevenson (1-0), who hails from Newark, New Jersey, made his professional debut on April 22, defeating Edgar Brito by technical decision in the sixth round. The fight was stopped a few seconds into round six when Brito was not allowed to continue fighting, due to a cut opened over his left eye from an accidental clash of heads in the second round.
The southpaw Stevenson displayed speed and pinpoint accuracy during the fight against the rugged fighter from Phoenix.
Stevenson is co-managed by James Prince, Andre Ward and Josh Dubin. Suarez (6-3-2, 1 KO) is unbeaten in his last three fights.
