Ray Beltran knocked out Mason Menard with a single left hook 51 seconds into Round 7 of their lightweight bout on the Terence Crawford-John Molina card Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska.

Menard (32-2, 24 knockouts) was on a run of impressive victories going into the fight but had never faced a fighter like Beltran, who is strong, experienced and determined to remain a major player at and near 135 pounds.

Beltran (32-7-1, 20 KOs) imposed his will on Menard more and more as the fight progressed, most notably pounding the Louisiana fighter to the body. Menard continued to try — until the big left hook, which followed a body shot from Menard.

Menard started to get up late in the count but couldn’t get to his feet by the count of 10, ending the fight.

Beltran landed 117 of 243 power punches, an impressive 48.1 percent, according to CompuBox.
