Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward both weigh in at 175
LAS VEGAS – Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward on Friday both weighed the light heavyweight limit of 175 pounds for their fight Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena.
Kovalev, who will be defending three sanctioning-body belts, has weighed between 174 and 175 pound in each of his last 11 fights. This the Russian’s ninth defense since taking Nathan Cleverly’s title in August 2013.
Ward has now weighed in at 175 for his last three fights but it’s only his fourth fight as a full-fledged light heavyweight. And Kovalev is the American’s first elite opponent since he stopped Chad Dawson in September 2012.
The fight will be televised on HBO Pay-Per-View.
