The off-again, on-again career of Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. is apparently on. For now.

In his first fight in over a year, Chavez will face Dominik Britsch of Germany on Dec. 10, Zanfer Promotions confirmed to RingTV.com.

The 10-round bout, which will be fought at a catchweight of 169 pounds, will take place in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The fight will likely air on beIN Sports en Espanol in the United States and on Azteca TV in Mexico.

Chavez (49-2-1, 32 knockouts) has not fought since July 18 of last year, winning a 10 round decision over former middleweight contender Marcos Reyes. That fight was fought at a catchweight of 170 pounds.

The fight came three months after Chavez was stopped after the ninth round by Andrzej Fonfara.

The 30-year-old Chavez has often been criticized for not taking his pro career seriously or for receiving questionable decisions.

Chavez, who is originally from the boxing hotbed of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, was trained by Robert Garcia for the Reyes fight and was also trained by Freddie Roach. In recent months, he has recorded himself working out of makeshift gyms in acquaintances’ backyards.

Britsch (32-2-1, 11 KOs) has won his last four bouts since a shocking majority decision loss to Soufiene Ouerghi, who entered the fight with a 6-3 record.

Britsch was scheduled to fight WBO super middleweight titleholder Gilberto Ramirez on July 23 in Las Vegas, but the fight was scrapped when Ramirez suffered a hand injury during training camp.

Also fighting on the Zanfer Promotions card will be junior middleweight Omar Chavez (34-3-1, 22 KOs). The younger brother of Julio Cesar Chavez has not fought since June 26 of last year.

Unbeaten lightweight Alejandro Luna (21-0, 15 KOs) is also penciled to fight on the card.
