Mauricio Pintor-Fernando Marin tonight on Telemundo
Welterweight Mauricio Pintor could have a familiar face watching him fight from ringside Friday night.
Pintor’s uncle, Mexican great Guadalupe “Lupe” Pintor, has been a regular attendee at his nephew’s fights and tonight he’ll have a chance to see Mauricio square off against unbeaten Fernando Marin at the Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City.
The 10-round bout will air on Telemundo, beginning at 11:35 p.m. ET/ PT. Friday night will be the final broadcast of 2016 for the “Boxeo Telemundo” series.
Pintor (19-2-1, 12 knockouts) will return to the ring after a three-year absence. The Mexico City resident won his last two bouts after losing back-to-back fights 2012.
Pintor’s last defeat came at the hands of Ricardo Alvarez, the older brother of Canelo Alvarez, by split decision.
Marin (13-0-3, 9 KOs), who hails from Aguascalientes, Mexico, won a 12-round split decision over Nestor Fernando Garcia on May 14.
In a six-round bout, lightweight Jerson Aguilar (6-1, 1 KO) will face Edson Martinez (3-1).
All Star Boxing will promote the card.
