Does Kathy Duva see Kovalev-Ward happening?

I would counsel you not to worry, tell you that the Sergey Kovalev-Andre Ward pound-for-pound showdown, legacy burnishing or legacy establishing, depending on who wins Nov. 19, will go down that evening.

It doesn’t have to; it could go off the rails, as many of my friends on Twitter are fearing. But I doubt it.

That said, I’m not certain, not after hearing Kovalev promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events tell UCNLive.com’s Steve Kim that she is feeling worried that things seem off, that she’s getting dark signals from Team Ward and Roc Nation Sports, since Ward and Company nixed an appearance at an event presser on Tuesday.

So I reached out to Duva, the New Jersey based boss, who has brought Kovalev from unknown to pound-for-pound royalty in four years.

You able to offer a reassurance statement that this fight is happening?

“As far as I am concerned, it is happening on November 19th at the T-Mobile arena (in Las Vegas),” Duva told me. “You will have to ask the other side if Andre Ward plans to be there.”

I haven’t heard back from the Roc crew after asking them to weigh in on the matter, of site and tix info. But I advise all to breathe deep and believe that jostling for position and such will occur, and so will the fight.
