To some, Sergey Kovalev will be the underdog going into his November to Remember clash with Andre Ward, regarded as the top pound-for-pound active pugilist on the planet by many pundits. It’s looking like the Russian terminator wants to gain an extra advantage by importing a big gun personage to be present when he puts his 175-pound crowns on the line, likely in Las Vegas.

Kovalev told TMZ in a video interview he’d like Russian president Vladimir Putin to make a rare trek to the U.S. to root him on versus the Oakland scientist of combat.

Me, I think Mr Putin could work the Kovalev corner and Mr. Obama the Ward corner, and not an iota of impact would be felt. If Kovalev can deliver on his power edge by landing clean on the best defender in the game, then he has a chance to win. If not, then Ward’s winning streak since he was age 12 stands.
