Jarrett Hurd vs Frank Galarza fukuda

Once-hot prospect Frank Galarza is slated to return on the Aug. 21 undercard at the new Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn, New York, promoter Lou DiBella told RingTV.com on Wednesday. That show will likely be headlined by top contender Errol Spence Jr. against Leonard Bundu in a world title eliminator.

Galarza (17-1-2, 11 knockouts) will try to rebuild his career after he was stopped in the sixth round by Jarrett Hurd last November in a Showtime “ShoBox” main event in Las Vegas. Up until then, East New York’s Galarza, dubbed the “Brooklyn Rocky” because of his humble beginnings, had emerged as an intriguing prospect with a remarkable and tragic back-story. An opponent has not been announced yet for Aug. 21.

The junior middleweight sensationally stopped John Thompson in the second round on ShoBox in 2014 and followed that up with a first-round demolition of Raul Munoz in just 76 seconds in February 2015. Those results are all the more significant considering what he has overcome. When Galarza was 7, his father was reportedly shot in the leg and later died from health complications related to the incident; his mother died of an overdose when he was 9. He was raised by an aunt and uncle. Galarza is a fan favorite because of his exciting style and garrulous personality.
