Michael Yormark, president and chief of branding and strategy for Roc Nation Sports, claims the company’s boxing hub is going to be among the “busiest promoters” in the second half of 2016 after the abrupt resignation of boxing COO David Itskowitch. While Yormark wouldn’t discuss what led Itskowitch to step down last week, he said the boxing division will move on and is “much bigger than David Itskowitch.”

“As it relates to Roc Nation Boxing, our boxing division wasn’t based on one guy,” Yormark said on a conference call on Tuesday for client Andre Ward’s next fight on Aug. 6. “We’re going to be one of the busiest promoters through the second half of the year. We’re really focused on Andre and the big fight on Aug. 6 and what we hope will be an incredible match on Nov. 19 (with Sergey Kovalev). So we’re moving forward. And we’re excited about the future. Again, we wish David all the best. But Roc Nation Boxing was much bigger than David Itskowitch.”

Yormark said a replacement for the respected Itskowitch, who has worked at the highest levels of the sport for two decades, will be explored after Ward faces Alexander Brand. “We’re going to get through Aug. 6,” he said. “We’re going to address what the needs are within our boxing division and then we’ll determine how we replace David.”
