Terry Flanagan-Mzonke Fana moved to July 16 in Wales
Talented British southpaw Terry Flanagan will make the third defense of his WBO lightweight title against Mzonke Fana at the Cardiff Ice Arena in Wales on July 16.
Flanagan, who is rated No. 4 by THE RING at 135 pounds, had been scheduled to face the South African in chief-support to Tyson Fury’s rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, however that show was postponed when Fury suffered a badly sprained ankle.
Fana is a former two-time world titleholder but at 42 years old, he has seen better days. Flanagan had hoped to make a match with fellow-Manchester lightweight Anthony Crolla, but the WBA titleholder has elected to face Jorge Linares on September 24 instead.
Co-headlining in Wales is pound-for-pound star Guillermo Rigondeaux, who defends his WBA junior featherweight title against Jazza Dickens, while British and Commonwealth junior middleweight champion Liam Williams defends his belts against Gary Cororan.
The undercard will also feature Bradley Skeete, Tommy Langford, Jamie Conlan, Joe Pigford, Craig Evans, Alex Hughes, Gary Buckland, Jay Harris, Dale Evans and Gary Sweeney.
