Oscar Negrete is beginning to make a name for himself among unbeaten junior featherweight prospects.
Negrete will face Jose Bustos on July 1 as part of an “LA Fight Club” card, Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz told RingTV.
The eight-round bout will take place at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, California, and will air live on Estrella TV, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT.
RingTVLive.com will also broadcast the fight, along with two more professional bouts.
Negrete (13-0, 5 knockouts) has become a staple on fight cards at the Belasco over the last year. His last five fights have taken place at the Downtown Los Angeles venue.
In his last bout on March 4, Negrete won a one-sided, eight-round decision over Neftali Campos.
The 28-year-old Negrete, who is originally from Colombia and resides in the Los Angeles suburb of Rosemead, has fought under the Golden Boy Promotions banner for about two years.
Bustos (11-6-3, 7 KOs), from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, has won his last three bouts straight after losing four consecutive bouts.
In the six-round co-feature, featherweight Emilio Sanchez (11-0, 8 KOs) squares off against Hugo Partida (21-7-2, 16 KOs). Niko Valdes (1-0, 1 KO) will open the “Boxeo Estelar” broadcast in a four-round, light heavyweight bout.
Amateur fights between officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and New York City Police Department (NYPD) will also take place on the Golden Boy Promotions card. Those fights will also air live on RingTVLive.com.
Those fights will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which is dedicated to breast cancer research.
