Former two-weight world titleholder Ricky Burns (39-5-1, 13 KOs) and Michele Di Rocco officially weighed in at the St. Enoch’s Centre in Glasgow on Friday ahead of their clash for the vacant WBA junior welterweight title.

Burns, who previously held WBO belts as junior lightweight and lightweight, will attempt to make history by becoming Scotland’s first ever three-weight world titleholder and the affable 33-year-old looked to be in terrific fighting shape at 139.2 pounds.

“This is one of the biggest fights of my career and I will give it everything I’ve got,” Burns told RingTV.com. “Di Rocco has been at this weight for a long time and he has plenty of experience, but this is my chance to get back on top and I’m coming to fight.

“The fans will be in for a great night of action and I’m glad that I’ve been able to bring world championship boxing back to Scotland.”

The 34-year-old Di Rocco (40-1-1, 18 KOs) looked gaunt on the scales but as Burns said, he has been campaigning at this limit since turning professional in 2004. The reigning European champion weighed in at 139.4 pounds for what will be his first world title contest.
