Alejandro Hernandez may be known as “El Payasito,” which means “little clown” in Spanish but his modest success as a pro has not been something to laugh at.

The former three-division title challenger would like another crack at a belt but first he has to once again do business with a familiar foe.

Hernandez will fight Isao Gonzalo Carranza Friday night at the Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City. The 10 round junior featherweight bout will top a “Boxeo Telemundo” broadcast, which will begin airing at 11:35 p.m. ET/ PT.

Hernandez (30-11-2, 16 knockouts) is no stranger to boxing fans and his boxer-puncher style has become a staple on the Spanish-language network in recent years.

In his last bout on Aug. 7, Hernandez scored an eighth round technical knockout win over Humberto Morales. The Mexico City resident has won five of his last six bouts.

The 29-year-old Hernandez has faced a number of top fighters in the lower weight classes. After the loss to Omar Narvaez for the WBO title in 2008, Hernandez fought to a split decision draw against Marvin Sonsona in Nov. of 2009.

Five years later, Hernandez lost a close 12 split decision to then-WBO bantamweight titleholder Tomoki Kameda.

Carranza (15-6-1, 9 KOs) fought to a 10-round split decision draw against Azael Gonzalez in his last bout on Sept. 3.

The Hernandez-Carranza fight will be a rematch of their 12-round clash in Jan. of 2014, a bout Hernandez won by unanimous decision.

A six-round bout will round out the Telemundo telecast.
