Junior welterweight titleholder Terence Crawford whiffed in his chance to fight Manny Pacquiao in April after Tim Bradley won that assignment. But promoter Bob Arum said that Crawford could possibly face one of Pacquiao’s greatest rivals in the near future if he prevails against Hank Lundy on Saturday: Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez.

Arum said the 42-year-old Marquez, who has won world titles in four different weight classes, is finally healthy after sustaining a knee injury and is ready to return this summer for the first time since dominating Mike Alvarado in May of 2014. And since they both belong to his stable, Arum projected Marquez and Crawford possibly meeting down the road at some point.

“Marquez wants to fight in the summer in Mexico City,” Arum said on Thursday. “He said the knee is fine. We’ll put him in a fight in Mexico City and then if he comes through that fight we’ll match him in a real marquee fight — maybe against a guy like Terence Crawford (at 140 pounds), assuming he’s victorious here.”

Arum went on to say that the talk of Marquez possibly facing Miguel Cotto was never going to happen because of the size difference. “Marquez is really more of a junior welterweight,” Arum said. “I mean the idea of him fighting Cotto doesn’t make any sense. Cotto is a much bigger guy.”
