Juergen Braehmer (47-2, 35 KOs) will face Eduard Gutknecht (29-3-1, 12 KOs) on March 12 in Neubrandenburg, Germany, following the withdrawal of South African Thomas Oosthuizen.

Braehmer, rated No. 5 by THE RING at 175 pounds, already holds a victory over his countryman, and former stablemate, but has been warned to take nothing for granted.

“Three years after our first fight, I’m delighted to finally get a rematch,” said Gutknecht, who dropped his European title on a unanimous decision.

“I was disappointed by that result but this time I will leave the decision in no doubt. I know exactly what I must do, and I’m ready to avenge my defeat.”

This will be Braehmer’s second consecutive bout against a German-based opponent, having scored a seventh-round-stoppage over Konni Konrad last September.

“Fans love a domestic dust-up,” said promoter Kalle Sauerland. “There is already a lot of history between these two men, which will add to the drama. We’re expecting a sell-out crowd and I’m sure no one will leave disappointed.”

Editor’s Note: Juergen Braehmer holds a version of the WBA light heavyweight title which is not recognized by THE RING.
