CARSON, Calif. — Antonio Orozco defeated Humberto Soto by a unanimous decision in a 10-round matchup of junior welterweight contenders on the Lucas Matthysse-Viktor Postol card Saturday at the StubHub Center. The judges scored it 98-91, 97-92 and 97-92, all for Orozco.

Orozco (23-0, 15 knockouts) was the busier of the two, targeting both the head and body of his veteran opponent, but Soto (65-9-2, 35 KOs) seemed to land at least as many hard, head-snapping punches in what appeared to a be a close fight.

Orozco lost a point for a low blow in the ninth round but it played no role in the outcome. Soto, a 35-year-old former two-division titleholder, had won seven straight since he was stopped by Matthysse in 2012.
